Out & About
In Out and About the Festival got outside the Tramsheds and hit the streets. While mostly walks, we were pleased to include a fascinating bus cultural tour of Aboriginal Glebe.
Glebe has a rich Aboriginal history and culture, and this bus tour showcased the places that are central to that courtesy of Glebe NAIDOC.
This walk covered four places of worship in Glebe: Sze Yup Chinese Temple, St Scholastica’s convent chapel, St James Catholic Church and St John’s Anglican Church.
Marine Scientist, Professor Ross Coleman from the University of Sydney led the morning marine walk.
Attendees turned down the opportunity to stay inside the warm and dry Glebe Town Hall for a lecture, instead taking full advantage of a rare opportunity to experience a Max Solling History Walk.
Max Solling, without doubt foremost historian of Glebe (think: Grandeur and Grit, The Boatshed on Blackwattle Bay, An Act of Bastardry), led this fascinating walk through Glebe and talked about the area’s history and architecture.
