Networking Tranby: Student Stories

Students come from all over Australia to do courses at Tranby in legal studies, literacy, community development and governance. Some lived in Glebe before studying. Others have decided to live in Glebe later.

While they are doing their courses at Tranby, the students were also part of the Glebe community, taking part in sporting events, markets, music gigs and community organisations.

This project is a collaboration between UTS and Tranby. It is aimed at learning about student experiences at Tranby since it came under full Indigenous control in 1980.

For NAIDOC the reserachers interviewed five former Tranby students who live or work in Glebe.

Working on the project were:
Heather Goodall & Heidi Norman: UTS
Belinda Russon: CEO, Tranby
Fiona Smith: researcher & former student
Helen Randerson & Lynette Bolt
